Take note that the new format means that the top 4 of Div 2 go up to Div 1 and the bottom 4 of Div 1 take their place in Div 2.

State Singles Titles:

Even though the two day event held just before Christmas had fewer competitors than last year, the competition was a strong tussle between regular high performers and the new generation.  Young Harvey from Noarlunga played well enough and impressed all to reach the top of his group and the quarter finals on Sunday.  In her first ever League competition Sandy Castle a new CPA member performed well in the Ladies Singles.

Boules

Congratulations to the following players on their singles achievements.

Open:
1ST        Alexi Alexi
2nd        Adrian Clements
=3rd       Raj Jamaladine, Tina Stockley.

Ladies:
1st            Carol Sewer
2nd           Jenny Key
=3rd         Monique Moerland, Sandy Castle.

Consolante:
1st            Kim Walker
2nd           Paul Wilson
=3rd         Greg Anderson, Guy Detot.

The League accepts that a two day competition is a big commitment, especially just before Christmas and will reassess before announcing next years format.

Interstate Sixers Competition:
Well done also to those players and coaches who competed in the Sixers held in Sydney on the weekend of the 10th November.

The intense training in the few weeks beforehand paid off with third place being an improved result for the Seniors on the 2006 competition.

The girl’s team of Wendy, Raluca and Tina did not loose a game on the weekend and had SA beaten Victoria instead of a draw, the whole result may have been different.         C’est la vie!!!

The Veterans performed admirably only to find themselves in second place as a result of a count back with NSW who took that title.

Good luck to those players who are going to Melbourne on the 19th 20th January to compete in the National Triples competition.

State Calendar:
Please take note of some changes to the League Calendar below.   As a result of recent Petanque Australia correspondence, some games have been taken off according to host Clubs wishes. Contact that Club if you are unsure regarding these omissions.

New Zealand Tour:
Tina is organising a contingent, (currently we have 10 participants) of South Aussies to travel to New Zealand for their Open on the 2009 January long weekend – it is a great weekend of Petanque with the Tahitians always adding a bit of colour and excitement. You can just go over for the weekend or make a holiday of it. It is a spectacular country.  Let Tina know if you are interested.
